The meeting was called to
order at 3:00 p.m.
Council Member Jabour gave
the Rules Committee report.
Assistant Council Auditor
Janice Billy gave the Finance Committee report.
Council Member Hyde gave the
PHS Committee report.
Council Member Clark gave the
TEU Committee report, noting that all bills have been previously covered by
earlier reports.
Council Member Graham gave
the RCD Committee report, noting that all bills have been previously covered by
earlier reports.
Assistant General Counsel
Dylan Reingold gave the LUZ Committee report.
Lisa Rinaman of the Mayor’s
Office requested emergency enactment on first reading of addendum ordinance
2007-1109. The text of the
recently-enacted budget ordinance restricted the use of City funds for the
purchase of food and beverages. This
language inadvertently works a substantial hardship on the Special Events
Division, which procures food and beverages as part of its sponsorship of
various special events. The proposed
ordinance would relax this restriction as it applies to the Special Events
Division, and emergency action is needed to have the revised policy in place by
the upcoming Florida/Georgia football game.
Ms. Rinaman will be available until the council meeting to answer any
questions that council members may have in this regard.
Council Member Holt informed
the group that Jessie Sammons, whom the Council honored by an emergency
resolution and presentation at the last meeting, passed away yesterday
afternoon. He was grateful that the
Council had acted speedily and honored a deserving citizen before her passing.
There being no further
business, the meeting was adjourned at 3:07 p.m.
