Lisa Rinaman of the Mayor’s Office explained that the federal grant is the first of a potential 6-year              project and is for planning and development purposes.  The emergency is requested so that the project can get underway in January.  In response to a question about future funding, Ms. Rinaman stated that identification of future sources for the required local match will be a part of      the program planning and development process.

At the conclusion of the agenda Sherry Hall of the Mayor’s Office informed the committee that the administration will be presenting a bill for introduction and a request for emergency approval on first reading at next Tuesday’s Council meeting.  The bill would authorize minor changes in the City’s emergency management plan in order to facilitate the plan being designated as accredited by the Emergency Management Accreditation Program.  Information about the accreditation process and the proposed changes to the plan have been e-mailed to all council members and the administration is ready and willing to meet and answer any council members’ questions before the Tuesday meeting.
