Poppell, Human Resources, addressed the committee to give an overview of the
proposed substitute legislation. He
explained that this would clarify appointed positions, provide definitions
and structure, and allow Human Resources to conduct certain studies. It is anticipated that the number of AMIOs
would be reduced from about 190 to 33.
Deferral was suggested to allow review of the proposed substitute and
to obtain answers to questions. A list

questions concerning needed corrections, language in the revised agreement, funding
and split provisions, financial impact, air travel by the University of
Georgia, alcoholic beverages, and the use of acronyms. It was noted that some provisions would
