Bill Summary

General Counsel Cindy Laquidara described the settlement agreement and the multi-county lawsuit and negotiations that produced the settlement.  The agreement would provide the City with $376,000 in immediate revenue it otherwise would not have, in return for which the 32 participating counties agree not to enact any local ordinances within the next 3 years regarding collection of tourist development taxes from on-line travel service providers (Priceline, Orbitz, Expedia, etc.) while the issue of collection of taxes from on-line vendors is considered in the state legislature.  Janice Billy stated that the $376,000 settlement would be divided evenly into the 3 accounts that currently share the normal TDC bed tax revenues.
