CITY COUNCIL AGENDA MEETING MINUTES


May 22, 2012

Location:  City Council Chamber, City Hall – St. James Building; 117 West Duval Street,

    

In attendance: Council Members Joost (President), Clark, Anderson, Daniels, Gulliford, Jones, Love, Boyer, Bishop, Yarborough, Holt, Carter, Crescimbeni, Redman, Schellenberg and Lumb

Meeting Convened:  4:05 p.m.

 

Council President Joost convened the meeting and asked the committee chairs to report their committee actions.

 

Rules Committee: Council Member Bishop reviewed the actions of the committee from its meeting. 

 

TEU Committee: Council Member Anderson reviewed the actions of the committee from its meeting. 

 

RCDPHS Committee: Council Member Gulliford reviewed the actions of the committee from its meeting. 

 

Finance Committee: Council Member Clarke reviewed the actions of the committee from its meeting.

 

LUZ Committee: Assistant General Counsel Dylan Reingold reviewed the actions of the committee from its meeting. 

 

Deputy General Counsel Steve Rohan announced that there would be an addendum of three items: 2012-363 (honoring and commemorating the life of Pastor George Harvey); 2012-364 (repealing portions of the Ordinance Code and City Charter regarding reorganization of economic development functions); and 2012-370 (rezoning on Beach Boulevard).

 

Several council members asked to be added as co-sponsors of 2012-363, and it was decided to move the Council amendment to add all names.

 

Council Member Yarborough requested emergency action on 2012-362 honoring and congratulating Arlington Middle School on its 50th anniversary

 

Council Member Bishop reviewed the ground rules for the public hearing on 2012-296 (adding sexual orientation and gender identity to the list of classes of persons protected from discrimination in housing, employment and public accommodations).

 

Council Member Holt requested emergency action on 2012-316 (Ordinance Code amendment to require City Council approval of any facilities management contracts entered into by the City after May 22, 2012).
