At the beginning of the meeting Chairwoman Boyer announced that a special meeting of the LUZ Committee is being contemplated for Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 5:00 p.m.  The committee’s January 7th agenda contains several contentious items that may take several hours apiece, making it unlikely that the committee could complete its entire agenda on that evening.  In response to a question from Council Member Boyer, Jason Gabriel stated that the LUZ Committee the City Council will soon be asked to re-hear  consider findings of fact relied upon by the Council in reaching a decision with respect to 2013-67-A   a liquor license appeal which was denied by the City Council, was appealed to the courts and has been remanded by the judge for a re-hearing and elaboration of the grounds for the committee’s decision for these purposes. Ms. Boyer announced that the off-site sign ordinance (2013-493) will be substituted and re-referred and will not be heard again by the LUZ Committee until January 22nd or February 4th, depending on the timing of notice requirements.
