The LUZ Committee by unanimous voice vote authorized OGC to file legislation amending the appropriate Chapters of the Ordinance Code (Chapter 307 and 320), to address and make consistent the historic landmark and demolition submittal and appeal processes and requirements.

The committee discussed potential ramifications of this legislation with Bill Brinton who has been involved in the City’s sign-related litigation for many years.  Committee members expressed concern about the possibility that this legislation might be subject to challenge in a way that could undermine the sign ordinance on the grounds of its being content-related regulation (some signs permitted, others not permitted based on the commercial content of the sign).  Council Members Bishop and Boyer announced their intention to hold a noticed meeting to explore this issue further.

Paul Harden representing the property owner answered questions about the plat vacation process and the future plans for the property.
