Terry Moore representing the purchaser of the building reported that investigations are still underway, as are attempts to settle the party wall and water intrusion lawsuit issues so that a closing of the sale can take place.  The accumulation of a large amount of City code violation fines is problematic. Jason Gabriel of the General Counsel’s Office reported that there are several possible remedies for eliminating settling or mitigating these fines, and the parties will be meeting with City staff to seek a solution.  A fine waiver ordinance may be required.

At the conclusion of the agenda Chairwoman Boyer stated that Council President Gulliford has asked the committees to be pro-active this year in studying items that relate to their areas of jurisdiction that are not pending legislation.  She distributed at list of potential topics for discussion and suggested that the committee meet on these non-agenda items in a noticed meeting at 4:30 prior to each regularly scheduled LUZ meeting.  Ms. Boyer welcomed additional suggestions and topics for discussion.
