Terrance Ashanate-Barker, Director, Neighborhoods Department, LaCree Carswell and Laura Stagner-Crites, Neighborhoods Department,  and Paul Tutwiler, Executive Director, NW Jax Community Development Corporation, all explained what the proposed appropriation entailed and fielded questions.

Council Member Reggie Brown had particular questions on the nature of Program Income and what constituted “shovel ready” projects.

 

Council Member Matt Schellenberg asked Ms. Stagner-Crites to be prepared at the Finance Committee meeting on Tuesday morning to provide some background on Ordinance 2007-255-E (Shoppes of Norfolk project).

The Council Auditor’s Office recommended an amendment that would have had the Clerk of the Courts used funds from its increase budget revenue rather than funds that were set aside by the Council in a special account.  Council Member John Crescimbeni spoke against the Council Auditor’s Office amendment; the Committee subsequently voted not to approve the amendment.
