Council Member Brown requested a deferral on the item until he could get information from the Real Estate Division on the availability of City-owned office space.  Council Member Crescimbeni indicated that he needed questions answered particularly on the nature of ITD charges for the telephones in use at the Jacksonville Children’s Commission’s complex.  Council Member Redman said that he was supportive of daniel and what the organization proposes to do with the leased space at JCC.  Jim Clark, president/CEO of daniel, indicated that daniel had hoped to move into JCC by January 1st and that the further delay would cause problems.  At the Chair’s discretion, the item is deferred one cycle.

At the close of the agenda items, Assistant General Counsel Paige Johnston brought to the Committee’s attention the fact that Jacksonville Fire & Rescue needed the Committee’s approval of a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity for Med-Trans to operate Air Medical Transport (for Shands) within the City of Jacksonville.  Med-Trans would replace the current COPCN for Rocky Mountain Holdings who will no longer be the contractor for Shands.  Ivan Mote, Division Chief, Rescue, explained the circumstances and fielded questions.  Assistant General Counsel Paige Johnston  was instructed to prepare two pieces of legislation: one bill for the Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity; another to clarify provisions in Chapter 158, Ordinance Code, at Council  Member Crescimbeni’s request.
