Bill Summary AMEND/APPROVE
5-1 (Schellenberg) (Revised BT $ Amt, Proj Name, & CIP) Sean Costigan, City Council Auditor’s Office, explained
the amendment. Steve Long, Engineering Manager, Public Works, explained
the design work for the Artists’ Walk; an artist rendition had been
distributed. Mr. Long fielded
questions from the Committee Members on the actual design of the project,
finances, acreage, maintenance of the park and other concerns; Dr. Wayne Wood
also fielded questions and provided a brief history of the project’s inception
and evolution. He depicted the
project, the Riverside Arts Market and Riverside Park as significant links to
the downtown area. Council Member Matt Schellenberg commented that while he
was appreciative of everyone’s work on the project and the significance of
the Riverwalk’s components, he felt that we could
have developed an equally qualitative design and project for less money
considering the stringent economic climate that we currently have. He indicated that he was inclined to vote
against the proposed ordinance in Committee. Carmen Godwin, representing RAP, commented on the
significance of the project and expressed her appreciation for the
Committee’s support. |
