Meeting Convened:
8:34 a.m.
Chairman Wilson called the meeting to order and asked the
attendees to introduce themselves. He reviewed the Auditor’s marked
agenda. There were six (6) items ready
for action; four (4) items being deferred; and eight (8) items being seconded and
re-referred.
The Chair announced that Council President Lori Boyer would
be at the Committee meeting to explain and field questions on Items 4 & 5
that addressed issues concerning the Tourist Development Council.
On Item #5, ORD-MC re Tourist Development Council; Amend Sec
70 (Membership), Ord Code…, Deputy General Counsel Peggy Sidman explained that
in reviewing the measure, it was discovered that the provisions for membership
terms in the Ordinance Code are at variance with Florida Statutes.
Florida Statutes sets
terms for Tourist Development Council members at four years for Tourist
Development Councils throughout the state.
Ms. Sidman suggested that a possible resolution of the complication
could be changing Florida Statutes.
The Chair announced that at the Special Meeting, the
Jacksonville Journey will update the NCIS Committee on their crime statistics.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned
at 8:43 a.m.
