There was a lengthy exchange on this item before the Chair deferred the matter.  The item had been marked for action.

 

Council Member Reggie Brown requested Assistant General Counsel Lawsikia Hodges to explain the different components of an amendment that he was submitting,  He explained that the amendment was the culmination of recommendations made at the noticed meetings that the Council Member had arranged to address and resolve issues that had been raised.  The first component of the amendment that Ms. Hodges explained would provide CHoDos with the first right of refusal for the first 30 days.  Affordable Housing Coordinator, Dayatra Coles, fielded numerous questions on the proposed legislation and amendments.

 

The Chair recommended that instead of deliberating on all of the components of Council Member Reggie Brown’s amendment in the course of the Committee meeting, that the discussion ensue at the noticed meeting that the Finance Chair had called for Monday morning, April 25th.

At the close of agenda items. Dr. Kelli Wells of the Health Department provided the Committee with an update on the Zika  virus in Florida.  She distributed a chart of known Zika cases in the State of Florida.  Duval County was not on the list.  Dr. Wells also announced that this was National Immunization Week and discussed the ramification of some parents’ reluctance to have their children immunized.  Dr. Wells fielded a number of questions.
