Kristen Reed, Chief, Community Planning, Planning & Development Department, explained what the legislation entailed.  This particular addressed the concerns of the rise in the sea level.  The item was deferred by the Planning Commission.  TEU deferred the item in anticipation of LUZ taking it up and deferring it.  TEU wants to be on the same cycle as LUZ.

Dwayne Kent, Project Manager, Public Works Department, explained that additional environmental assessment and environmental testing were required by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.  Attorney Kristina Nelson remarked on the tax credits issue.  A question had been raised as to whether the City could sell any tax credits that it received

 

Council Vice President John Crescimbeni characterized the process of periodically assessing the Shipyards for contaminants and other environmental concerns as a “band aid “ approach, likening it to patching up a leaking roof instead of installing a new roof.  Council Member Greg Anderson had a number of concerns; he wants to meet with Eric Fuller and Dwayne Kent to discuss this matter further.
