Meeting Convened: 4:01 p.m.

 

President Bowman called the meeting to order and asked for the committee reports.

 

LUZ Committee: Council Member Schellenberg reviewed the actions of the committee from its meeting.

 

Rules Committee: Council Member Hazouri reviewed the actions of the committee from its meeting.

 

Finance Committee: Council Member Morgan reviewed the actions of the committee from its meeting.

 

TEU Committee: Council Member Ferraro reviewed the actions of the committee from its meeting.

President Bowman said that Council Member Boyer, excused from today’s meeting, had requested that 2018-563 (Estab The District Community Dev District) be postponed until she can be present for the debate. The Floor Leader will offer a motion to postpone after the public hearing is held.

 

NCSPHS Committee: Council Member Newby reported that all of his committee items had been previously covered.

 

President Bowman reported that the Channel 99 feed on Comcast and AT&T will have audio but no video tonight. He also noted that five of the six artists with artworks on display in the City Council suite will be present at tonight’ s meeting.

 

Council Member Schellenberg noted that 2018-694 (Resolution Strongly Opposing Amendment 1 to FL Constitution re: additional homestead exemption) is on an addendum to the agenda for introduction. He requested 1-cycle emergency approval at the next meeting. In response to a question from Council Member Hazouri, Mr. Schellenberg said that the purpose of the resolution is to inform the public about the detrimental effects of the passage of the amendment. Mr. Hazouri suggested that it needs to be passed and publicized earlier before the November election and Council Member Gulliford suggested that it be taken up for emergency approval on first reading tonight.
