CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING – ELECTION OF OFFICERS MINUTES

May 22, 2018

In attendance: Council Members Anna Lopez Brosche (President), Greg Anderson Danny Becton, Aaron Bowman, Lori Boyer, Katrina Brown (3:09), Reginald Brown (3:03), Doyle Carter, John Crescimbeni, Garrett Dennis, Al Ferraro, Reggie Gaffney, Bill Gulliford, Tommy Hazouri, Jim Love, Joyce Morgan, Sam Newby, Matt Schellenberg and Scott Wilson

Meeting Convened: 3:01 p.m.

Council President Brosche called the meeting to order at 3:01 p.m. Council Member Carter gave the invocation and led the Pledge of Allegiance. A roll call of attendance was taken. Carol Owens, Chief of Legislative Services, read the call for the meeting.

The President opened the floor to nominations for the position of Council President-Designate. Council Member Boyer nominated Council Member Bowman for the position, seconded by Council Member Gaffney.

There being no further nominations, the nominations were declared closed and by written ballots the council elected Council Member Bowman by a vote of 19-0 as the President-Designate. Extended the privilege of the floor, Mr. Bowman thanked his colleagues for their support and pledged a year of teamwork among the City Council and with the mayor and his administration. He will be sending a letter shortly to the council members outlining his priorities for the coming year.

The President opened the floor to nominations for the position of Council Vice President-Designate. Council Member Love nominated Council Member Becton for the position, seconded by Council Member K. Brown. Council Member Anderson nominated Council Member Scott Wilson for the position, seconded by Council Member Hazouri.

There being no further nominations, the nominations were declared closed and by written ballots the council elected Council Member Wilson by a vote of 10-9 as the Vice President-Designate. Extended the privilege of the floor, Council Member Wilson thanked his colleagues and pledged to keep learning and to assist the President and the Council in achieving their goals. He pledged to meet with council members to hear their concerns and learn how to better address their needs.
