CM Freeman offered an amendment that was explained by Damian Cook, Office of Grant and Contract Compliance. Mr. Cook stated that the amendment moved the funding into an operational account, so that implementation of the Cure Violence Program can begin right away. This will also allow for carry over into the next fiscal year. Peggy Sidman, Office of General Counsel, outlined that if you spend money on food or beverage there must be a stated purpose in the expenditure. This would be the TEU amendment that was voted on to be rolled into the Freeman amendment. The language relating to use of food was highlighted by CM Crescimbeni and CM Morgan regarding if a cap was needed. Mr. Cook stated that food will not be a major component, but can be used to being people into the program through events.
