Chairman Shad reviewed the
agenda items, which include 18 items to be deferred, 17 items ready for action,
22 items to be read second and re-referred, and 3 items requested for emergency
approval on first reading. Council
Member Clark explained that the 3 requested emergencies are historic
preservation ad valorem tax exemptions introduced on the addendum at last
Tuesday’s Council meeting in hopes of being acted on before the end of the
year. Thought needs to be given to how,
if at all, these end-of-the-year exemption emergencies can be avoided in the
future, possibly by means of an earlier application deadline.
In answer to a question from
Council Member Clark, Lisa Rinaman of the Mayor’s Office indicated that
legislation regarding adoption of a new courthouse construction plan will be
presented to the council after the first of the New Year.
There being no further
business, the meeting was adjourned at 1:35 p.m.
