Council members Clark has been excused from the meeting.  Chairman Shad reported that the Finance Committee will hold a shade meeting at the conclusion of the regular meeting to discuss collective bargaining issues.

Chairman Shad reviewed the agenda items, which include 11 items to be deferred, 12 items for action, 1 item for withdrawal, 1 item to be substituted and rereferred, and 12 items to be seconded and rereferred.

2007-329 will be deferred but will be the subject of a joint Finance/Rules meeting on November 7th.

2007-1045: Council Member Lee requests deferral so that she can review revised lease documents she just received today and to meet with a group of ministers and community organizations.  She was surprised to find that Simonds Johnson community center has been closed for some time.  She welcomes private assistance to improve the park, but thinks the City has a responsibility to get that park open and operating and staffed without private funds.  Ms. Lee feels the community has not been adequately informed about potential uses and asked to participate in planning the center’s future.  Chairman Shad will put the issue of deferral to the committee for their decision.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 1:54 p.m.
