The meeting was called to order at 3:30 p.m. by Chairman Hyde.

Phillip Peterson of the Council Auditor’s Office reviewed the marked agenda, which included 1 item recommended for substitute and re-referral, 2 items ready for action, 1 item to be deferred, and 4 items recommended for second reading and re-referral.

2007-984, the resolution opposing extension of any runway at Craig Airport, will be deferred today and taken up at a joint meeting of the PHS and LUZ committees tomorrow, November 6th at 5:00 p.m. at the beginning of the LUZ meeting, after which PHS will adjourn.

Two discussions are scheduled after the legislative items of the agenda are concluded.  Charles Griggs of the Health Department will present the committee with a proposed ordinance regarding Health Department fees as requested during the Council’s budget consideration process.  Chairman Hyde will distribute a memo with possible committee discussion topics related to the City’s murder rate.  Mr. Hyde also noted that all committee members should have received a memo from Fleet Management regarding the vehicle maintenance out-sourcing proposal discussed at the last PHS meeting.  He encouraged the members to read the lengthy and informative memo carefully and be prepared to take up the topic at the November 19 committee meeting.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 3:35 p.m.
