Attendance: Committee Chair Kevin Hyde, Committee Members Johnny Gaffney, Stephen Joost, Don Redman, Clay Yarborough, Ray Holt (arrived 3:32 p.m.), and Mia Jones (arrived 3:34 p.m.); Janice Billy, Office of Council Auditor; Shannon Eller and Dylan Reingold, Office of General Counsel; Jessica Stephens and Rick Campbell, Office of City Council
The Committee Chair, Kevin Hyde, called the meeting to order at 3:30 p.m. He noted that there are two items on the committee’s agenda, and that both items are marked for withdrawal.
As Chair, he conveyed his thoughts concerning the purpose and direction for the committee for the upcoming year, explaining that this committee may consider issues not the subject of pending legislation. He further asked the committee for suggested topics, and such areas as port security, traffic safety, the crime rate, health, and infant mortality were mentioned. It was determined that the members would think about potential issues and bring their suggestions to the next meeting, where discussion as to which issues the committee will review can be held.
Some clarifications to Sunshine Law requirements were offered by legal staff in response to questions.
