The meeting was called to order at 1:30 p.m.

 

Chairman Shad reviewed the agenda items, which included 12 items to be deferred, 1 item to be withdrawn, 11 items ready for action (one as an emergency), and 14 items to be read a second time and re-referred.  He noted that Council Member Clark is excused from the meeting..

 

Ordinance 2007-401, a revised courthouse construction plan, was amended and approved in the Rules Committee this morning.  Sam Mousa will be present to address any questions.

 

Ordinance 2008-307 authorizing a refunding of certain bond issues is being requested for emergency approval on its first committee cycle.  Finance Director Mickey Miller will be present to explain the need for the bill and to answer any questions.

 

In response to a question from the Chairman about when he preferred to speak to bill 2007-1136 (creation of a defined contribution retirement plan), Dick Cohee of the Retired Employees Association stated that since the bill was being deferred today he would address it when the committee is ready to take action.

 

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 1:34 p.m.
