A presentation was made by Ms. Nancy Dreicer, Northeast Region Director, Dept. of Children and Families, and Mr. Jim Adams, Executive Director, Family Support Services of North Florida, concerning foster care.  A pilot program based on the safety of the child is in place to change the system, removing fewer children from their homes and providing services to the families.

 

Mr. Greg Roland, ShotSpotter (a gunshot detection and location system), addressed the committee concerning the technology available to locate sources of gunfire and assist police departments in focusing resources to reduce gun-related violent crimes.
