Lindsay Ballas of the JEDC explained that one company is ready to use the Recovery Zone bond program immediately and two others are exploring the possibilities, so the JEDC advocates passage as soon as possible.  Council Member Johnson had requested deferral of the bill while she is out of town.  The committee recommended approval of the ordinance with the Chairman stating that he reserves the right to recommend re-referral to committee if Council Member Johnson’s questions are not satisfactorily addressed by next Tuesday’s Council meeting.
