The
committee discussed at length the merits of using $1.5 million of the$2.5
million available in the Neighborhood Stabilization Program for demolition on
this single project in a commercial area versus on a larger number of houses
in residential areas. Wight Greger,
Director of the Housing and Neighborhoods Department explained that the Park
View Inn is an eyesore and a danger and has accrued over $100,000 in City
liens and penalties. The proposed
demolition is an eligible use of the funds in an eligible target area, so
this funding is appropriate to be used to handle this very large, very
expensive demolition ordered by the Special Master handling the case. The committee discussed the importance of
liening the property for the City to recover the full amount expended when
the property is eventually sold. Bill Summary Fact Sheet F: Apv APPROVE 5-1 (Crescimbeni) |
