The committee discussed at length the merits of the flood mitigation program and asked questions about the eligibility of particular properties, the cost/benefit of removing vs. elevating existing structures, and the City’s plans/ability to mitigate flooding problems in this area for the homeowners who are not purchasing flood insurance and are therefore not eligible for FEMA repetitive loss mitigation assistance.
