RESEARCH DIVISION
PUBLIC HEALTH AND SAFETY COMMITTEE
AGENDA MEETING MINUTES
February 2, 2009
3:30 p.m.
City Council Conference Room A
117 W. Duval Street
Attendance: Chairman Clay Yarborough, Ray Holt
Janice Billy – Auditor’s Office; Philip Zamarron –
Legislative Services Division; Jeff Clements – Council Research Division; Peggy
Sidman and Jim McCain – Office of General Counsel; Sherry Hall – Mayor’s
Office; Nancy Kirts – Recreation and Community Services Department
The meeting was called to
order at 3:32 p.m. by Chairman Yarborough.
Chairman Yarborough reviewed
the Auditor’s marked agenda which included 1 item to be deferred, 7 items ready
for action (one as an emergency in the first committee cycle) and 8 items to be
read a second time and re-referred. He
announced that 2009-38 (recommending that the City, JSO and JAA consider
merging the JAA police into the JSO) will be withdrawn as it was in the Finance
Committee earlier today. On 2008-86 (establishing
priority populations for public service grants), Peggy Sidman briefly explained
the Ordinance Code provision requiring the designation of the PSG priorities
and noted that the bill was introduced with blanks for the 5 priorities – that
is a policy decision for the committee and the City Council to make.
There being no further
business, the meeting was adjourned at 3:35 p.m.
