At the conclusion of the agenda, Chief Financial Officer Mickey Miller distributed and briefly discussed the quarterly report on the City of Jacksonville’s investment portfolio. For the quarter ending March 31, 2010 the overall portfolio experienced a positive return of 1.51%. For the fiscal year to date the portfolio has experienced a positive return of 2.86%, and for the past 12 months (April 2009-March 2010) the total return was 12.73%.

Randy Wyse, President of the Jacksonville Association of Fire Fighters Local 122, made a presentation about various operational changes/cuts that took place in the Fire and Rescue Department’s operations over the previous weekend as a response to the City’s current year budget difficulties. In the union’s opinion the changes were imposed on very short notice and threatened both firefighter and public safety.
