Meeting Convened: 3:58 p.m.
President Joost convened the meeting and introduced Mayor Brown who stated that the special meeting had been called to inform the Council of his intention to apply to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for reimbursement of expenses incurred by the City in response to Tropical Storm Debby. The reimbursement application requires a declaration of emergency which the he did by proclamation, and is asking the City Council to ratify to indicate its agreement with the declaration.
General Counsel Cindy Laquidara stated that the Ordinance Code requires that the Council be convened and informed of the emergency declaration, but a formal vote on a resolution in support of the Mayors emergency declaration is not required.
The members present approved of the emergency declaration by a unanimous voice vote.
