Council President Joost convened the meeting and asked the committee chairs to report their committee actions.
Rules Committee: Council Member Bishop reviewed the actions of the committee from its meeting.
LUZ Committee: Council Member Brown reviewed the actions of the committee from its meeting.
TEU Committee: Council Member Anderson Brown reviewed the actions of the committee from its meeting, noting that 2011-780 (designating property on Dames Point Road as a brownfield) will be pulled from the Consent Agenda and a public hearing held.
Finance Committee: Assistant Council Auditor Janice Billy reviewed the actions of the committee from its meeting, noting that on 2011-731 (agreement with North Riverside CDC for joint use of community center) there will be a floor amendment.
RCDPHS Committee: Council Member Gulliford reviewed the actions of the committee from its meeting.
The President stated that 2011-399 (approving FOP collective bargaining agreement) will be added to the agenda on an addendum and potentially moved for approval tonight. If council members have substantial questions and are uncomfortable with action tonight, then the bill could be referred for one committee cycle. FPO President Nelson Cuba urged the Council to take up the bill tonight because of the Council’s upcoming schedule. Because of the “fifth week” in January the next City Council meeting will not be until February 14th. The longer that approval is delayed, the greater the amount of salary that union members will have return to the City because the contract provides for a pay reduction retroactive to January 1, 2012.
