Bill Summary The Chair updated the Committee on where the bill stood
now. The Council President had
referred this bill back to Committee at the previous Council meeting. The Chair explained the amendment to the
bill that had been crafted by Council Member Lumb and approved. Council Member Ray Holt, the bill’s sponsor, proceeded to
explain what the bill proposed to do in his Council District, particularly
for economic development with the establishment of a rail corridor. He cited
the significance of the TIGER grant that the port had received and the
potential rail corridor. Council
Member Schellenberg had a number of questions; he particularly wanted to know
if the sponsor had sought the input of CSX and Norfolk Southern. Council Member Holt indicated that he was
more interested in getting the input of the community and TPO in the matter. AMEND/APPROVE
