BILL SUMMARY DEFER The Chair explained that the first five items on the
agenda were re-referred to the Committee by the January 10, 2012 City Council
Meeting. These are the appeals to the
address changes made by the 911 Emergency Addressing Advisory Comm to
Reassign an Out of Sequence Address on South Point Parkway. Assistant General Counsel Peggy Sidman
provided the Committee with background on the sequence of events that led to
the legislation. She indicated that
the issue has been afloat for eight months.
The Committee Members discussed the issues; Council Member Redman, whose
districts the subject sites are located, suggested that the bills be deferred
for one cycle; deferring the bill would enable the Committee to get more
information, particularly from the Fire & Rescue Department, on why these
address reassignments are needed. The
Committee voted to defer the bills for one cycle. |
