/APPROVE 6-0 Attach Exhibit Attorney Steve Diebenow, agent for the non-profit Unity
Plaza, explained what the Unity Plaza project entailed and proceeded
to field questions about specifications of the plans; in particular, he
clarified what constituted, in his view, what the kiosks would be. Council Member John Crescimbeni had asked
about the kiosks. Council Member E. Denise Lee implored Mr. Diebenow to
attach the site description leaflet into the proposed ordinance’s legislative
file. Both Mr. Diebenow and Assistant
General Counsel John Sawyer had problems with attaching the site plan as a
part of the easement agreement that the legislation authorized. The issue was resolved by an amendment offered by Ms. Lee
that would attach the site plan to the legislative file as an exhibit. Jennifer Jones, Executive Director of Unity Plaza,
provided background on the origins of Unity Plaza. She likened how she envisioned programming for Unity Plaza
to Bryant Park in Midtown Manhattan and an urban park in Portland, Oregon. |
