Bill Summary    

 

Council Member Schellenberg requested Mr. Long to provide him with the division’s FY14-15 budget request for equipment and the amount provided in the Mayor’s budget for that purpose. Committee members questioned Mr. Long about equipment age, usability and repair records. Council Member Gulliford advocated for the City to lease heavy equipment with an option to buy and to have a private maintenance contract. Council Member Lumb suggested outsourcing the division’s functions completely. Council Member Schellenberg requested from the administration a list of the City director and chief-level positions that are currently vacant and how long persons have been in “acting” capacities in those positions.
