The Chair called the Agenda Meeting to order at 1:30 P.M. and proceeded to review the marked agenda that had been prepared by the Council Auditor’s Office. There were three (3) items ready for action; two (2) items that were being deferred; and seven (7) items that were being seconded and re-referred.
On Item #1, ORD-MC 2013-669, Declaring Surplus Prpty consisting of City own property & bldgs., to the Police and Fire Pension (PFPF), conveying the Propty to PFPF in exchange for a reduction in Unfunded Actuarial Accrued Liability of the PFPF….the sponsor, Council Member Matt Schellenberg, indicated that he preferred deferring the item for one more cycle.
On Item # 2, ORD 2014-64, Auth Lease Agreemt with Teach for America, Inc. for 5,394 Sq Ft on 6th Floor of Ed Ball Bldg….Council Member Greg Anderson indicated that he had just received a response from the bond counsel that the Committee had been attempting to acquire for some time. The Committee wanted to know whether the proposed lease with TFA, a non-profit organization, would adversely affect the tax-exempt status for federal income tax purposes of tax-exempt bonds issued to finance the acquisition of the Ed Ball Buuilding. He wondered if other Committee Member had received the e-mail and had had an opportunity to assess its content. Assistant Council Auditor Kyle Billy advised the Committee that in view of the fact that the bond counsel’s e-mail had been transmitted at 10:59 P.M. the previous (Sunday) evening, he, Public Works Director Jim Robinson and Policy Director Teresa Eichner, recommend that this item on the agenda be deferred.
There being no further business, the agenda meeting was adjourned at 1:35 P.M.
