Meeting Convened: 8:31 a.m.

 

Chairman Clark called the meeting to order and reviewed the Auditor’s marked agenda which included 13 items marked for deferral, 24 items ready for action (1 for withdrawal) and 16 items for second reading and re-referral.

 

2015-128 (expressing Council’s intent to levy a local option sales tax for fire and rescue services): the bill will be deferred pending request by resolution of an opinion from the Florida Attorney General’s office on aspects of implementation.

 

2015-143 (appropriating a $225,000 grant for the 100 Resilient Cities initiative): Chairman Clark raised questions about the funding of the City’s portion of the position costs and how the positions will be funded after the grant expires.

 

2015-202 (amending Zoning Code Enforcement Revolving Fund): will be deferred.

 

Council Member Schellenberg requested that Fire Chief Senterfitt be allowed to make a presentation at the start of the agenda that was postponed from the previous meeting. He also announced that he has requested that a resolution be drafted expressing condolences over the passing of civic leader Jack Demetree and said that co-sponsors would be welcome.

 

In response to a question from Council Member Boyer, Teresa Eichner of the Mayor’s office said that the Finance Department would be providing information on the progress of the City’s year-end financial audit.
