The Chairman called the meeting to order at 9:00 A.M. and proceeded to review the marked agenda that the Council Auditor’s had prepared. There were two (2) items ready for action, ten (1) items being deferred and three (3) items being seconded and re-referred.
On Item #1, ORD-MC 2014-665, Amend Chapt 220 (Vehicles for Hire), Ord Code, Part 5 (Admin; Enforcement)….Council Member Matt Schellenberg announced that this item was going to be taken up in October, after the budget enactment process is completed. He would, however, provide a brief summary of the proposed ordinance’s content at the Committee meeting.
On Item #2, ORD-MC 2015-377, Amend Chapt 518 (Jax Propty Safety & Maint Code)…Council Member Garret Dennis indicated that it was his understanding that Council Member Reggie Brown was doing some research on this matter and would be coming up with a revamped ordinance to replace this item.
On Item #6, ORD-MC 2015-451, Amend Chapt 804 (Jax Traffic Code), Ord Code, Secs 804-633 (Unattended Conveyances), to Auth Public Parking Officer to Tow Vehicles for Unattended Conveyance…., Council Member Schellenberg wanted to know the status of this proposed legislation. Assistant General Counsel Paige Johnston said that she would ask the Deputy General Counsel, Margaret Sidman, about the status of the item.
On Item #11, ORD-MC 2015-565, Amend Chapt 326 (Signs & Outside Display Structures)…Ali Korman Shelton explained that there were issues about signs that had to be clarified. Paige Johnston was to add language to address the sign issues. Council Member Dennis requested that the item be deferred so as to allow the NICE Committee to review the proposed legislation and make recommendations.
There being no further business, the agenda meeting was adjourned at 9:13 A.M.
