Summary TEU: Defer DEFER Council Member Bill Gulliford, the measure’s sponsor,
advised the Committee that he had recently met with skateboarding people and
is scheduled to have another meeting.
He is impressed with what other cities have done with skateboard parks
and imagines that Jacksonville could possible construct one downtown. Mr. Gulliford announced that through some
research work of Jordan Elsbury,
capital funds that had been set aside by former Council
Member Warren Jones for a downtown skateboarding park had been found. He further announced that Assistant General
Counsel Paige Johnston has been working on some changes in the proposed
ordinance. |

Bill Summary APPROVE 7-0 Council Member Aaron Bowman, the resolution’s sponsor,
explained what the resolution entailed.
He described what the Triton was and what the economic impact can be
on Jacksonville’s economy if the program was located at Mayport N.A.S. It would bring upwards of 400 jobs and Navy
families. There would be no costs to
the City. Council Member Tommy Hazouri thought that our
Congressional delegation and others should be enlisted to lobby the Navy. |
