substituted bill will correct formatting issues that identified existing
language as new and reorganized sections as deleted. The substantive
changes remain the same, which include the following: 1. 75% (previously two-thirds required to
sign a petition to initiate a street name change) of affected property
owners must approve of a street name change. 2.
75% (previously 90%) of affected property owners must approve of a street
name change in honor of a prominent individual. 3.
75% (previously 100%) of affected property owners must approve of an
honorary street designation. 4.
Clarifies that any citizen can initiate a street name change 5.
Clarifies that property owners whose address is assigned to a street that
is either being renamed or being considered for an honorary street
designation must consent to the change (previously stated owners of
property abutting the street). 6.
Requires the Planning Department to send two notices to affected property
owners to obtain their consent or objection. No response will be
considered consent. 7.
Replaces reference to Right of Ways and Grounds Maintenance with Traffic
Engineering Division. 8. Increases
the cost of honorary street designation signs from $200 each (total of
$400) to $761 in total. |
