Dr. Kelli Wells, Director, Florida
Department of Health in Duval County, provided the Committee with a PowerPoint
presentation on the Zika Virus. She
indicated that the Health Department is partnering with the City’s Mosquito
Control Division in raising awareness of the problem and how to take measures
to minimize risks. She reiterated the
challenge of educating the public, particularly In
measures like “drain and cover.”
John Pappas, Director, Public Works
Department, and Jordan Pope, Manager, Public Affairs, JEA, gave a presentation in response to the
questions that the Committee raised at its February 1, 2016 meeting pertaining
to
the LED street lighting conversion project.
Nancy Kilgo, JEA, provided the
Committee with a presentation on JEA solar programs and the new solar systems
that the JEA was putting together throughout the City.
There being no further business, the
meeting was adjourned at 3:24 P.M.
