A representative from the Goldstein Environmental Law Firm (Miami) indicated that her client is not the original owner of the property. The addition of a covered area will allow the equestrian center to book more shows, increase capacity and endure weather conditions year round. Since taking over the management of the Equestrian Center 2 years ago, the volunteer Equestrian Society Board has tripled the days rented for the facility and increased the scheduled events by 87 percent.

Health Department Update:

Alison Hewitt, Department of Health, presented an update on the Zika virus. The incidence rate for Zika in Duval County has declined dramatically since last year. Ms. Hewitt also discussed the DOH involvement with the city-funded opioid epidemic pilot project, which includes weekly planning sessions, referrals of pregnant participants and data collection.
