CM Hazouri explained that this bill expands the locations for human trafficking sign postings to include hotels (in employee break rooms). Erin Wilson, State Attorney’s Office, offered support for the bill, noting that most of their cases stem from hotel activity. CM Bowman asked about metrics to assess effectiveness of the signs already in place. The JSO representative said he would get the reporting statistics and report back to the committee. CM Dennis asked about the breakdown for domestic- worker trafficking and sex trafficking. JSO is currently working more cases in the category of sex trafficking, but both are prominent issues to the community.

Council Members Newby, Love and Bowman asked to be added as co-sponsors to the bill.
