Presentations:

  1. Alison Hewitt, Department of Health (DOH), stated the DOH, in partnership with the Governor’s Office, hosted a screening and discussion regarding childhood adversities impacting their health consequences. Also, the DOH wants to partner with the City to offer the screening and discussion. She will make contact with committee members to facilitate scheduling a series of dates within the community. DOH is working with Northwest Jacksonville Development to finalizing the septic program. Also, the DOH is working with North Jax Community Development Fund regarding grocery store closures.

 

  1. Chief Nick Burgos, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, stated that the department is pushing the message within the community about the dangers of leaving firearms in their cars and leaving cars unlocked. He provided year-to-date statistics on various crimes which included:

·         54 Traffic Homicides (11 involved pedestrian)

·         Uniformed Ticket Violations are down by 34.98% from last year

Chief Burgos stated that warnings are signed by the citizen; and JSO tracks the warnings numerically. Per CM Dennis’ request, Chief Burgos agreed to provide a breakdown of the statistics by Council Districts.
