Presentations:

  1. Alison Hewitt, Department of Health (DOH), provided an update on the Zika virus. She commented that the complete septic tank list, in excel version, was forwarded to Chairman Newby. The list will be distributed to members to access details by district numbers. In observation of Public Health Week, daily awareness messages will be sent out.  DOH has partnered with Jacksonville Fire & Rescue Department (JFRD) on a pilot project that collects data on pregnant women using drugs.  In response to CM Love’s inquiry, Ms. Hewitt stated the JFRD recently compiled a statistical report, as of March 21st, on the number of cases in our area involving opioids and overdosing.

 

  1. Undersheriff Pat Ivey, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, provided year-to-date crimes statistics:

 

    1. Priority One cases down 6.19 percent
    2. 46 Traffic Homicides (7 involved pedestrian)
    3. 21,385 Uniformed Ticket Violations (8,458 were Warning Citations) 
    4. 1230 Auto Burglaries (755 doors unlock, 106 firearms left inside the vehicle)
    5. Overall crime is down 8.31 percent.

 

Per CM Dennis’ previous request, Undersheriff Ivy distributed a report displaying JSO’s total number of officers per month. The numbers are categorized by attrition, drop program, hired classes new positions, and vacancies.
