Presentations:

  1. Department of Health- Updates

Allison Hewitt, Department of Health, distributed the Zika virus update. She reported that there is an elevated level of flu cases in the state. Tallahassee officials are hosting a conference call to discuss implementation of additional measures for citizens to fight against the illness. Details will be provided at the next meeting.

 

  1. Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office

Chief Derrick Lewis provided some crime statistics. In comparing crimes, to date, in January 2017 to January 2018, crime is down 22.4% overall. Citywide crime is down 25.49%. Council Member Dennis inquired about the life cycle of a recruit to being a patrol officer. Council Member Anderson requested additional information on strategies used to combat crime.
