Bill Summary: This bill approves and adopts the City of Jacksonville/Duval County Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan.

Background Information: Florida Statutes require each county to develop an emergency management plan and program that is coordinated and consistent with the State’s emergency management plan and program. The City’s plan has been prepared by its Emergency Preparedness Division, and has been found by the State to be in compliance with requirements. Approval and adoption of the plan is a condition of receiving State funding for implementation of the Five Year Strategic Plan. In general, the plan analyzes vulnerability to natural and man-made hazards, establishing the county’s emergency response organization and formalizing preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation procedures and initiatives. Additionally, it provides procedures for warning, evacuation, sheltering, training, public information and education, and various other elements of a unified disaster response network.
