Bill Summary: The bill authorizes the City to sign an stipulation agreement with Florida East Coast Railroad (FEC) an Florida Department of Transportation to close the rail grade crossing at Naldo Avenue.
Background Information: The railroad crossing is in an older residential section of the San Marco area of District 5. Naldo Road mostly serves neighborhood traffic and the rail line handles about 25 trains each day. The agreement calls for the FEC to remove the crossing surface for 10 feet on either side of the tracks and erecting barricades and road closure signs. The FEC will also make an incentive payment of $7,500. The closure agreement authorized by this bill was one of three listed in 2004-492.
Note: The bill, page 1, line 27, authorizes "three" stipulations. As only one, the Naldo stipulation, is being authorized, it should read "a" and on ln 1 of p 2, "Each" should be replaced with "The".
