Bill Summary: The bill declares as surplus to city needs a parcel of land (the northern part of RE 063004-0000) and authorizes the Administration to deed the land to the Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) at no cost.  It also waives inconsistent provisions of Chapter 122.

Background Information: The parcel is a 93.5-foot by approximately 250-foot long strip, totaling 18,988 square feet, adjacent to the Seaboard Coastline rail road line north of College Street.  The JTA has use for the northern 75 feet of the land for the Rapid Transit System.  For the Rapid Transit System, the JTA plans to develop two main rapid transit corridors and spend $100 million on right-of-way acquisition.  The long-term Rapid Transit System plan that includes east/southwest and north/southeast corridors with dedicated bus lanes and timed traffic signals.  The dedicated bus lanes could be in place by early 2007.  New buses for the rapid transit system will then be bought over the next five years.
