Bill Summary: This bill confirms the Mayor’s appointment of Kent R. Olson as the Chief of the Budget Division within the Administration and Finance Department.  The administration is also authorized to reimburse Mr. Olson’s relocation expenses contingent upon his becoming a Duval County resident.

 

Background Information: Ordinance 2006-1194-E established the requirements for this position as a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in business, accounting or public administration, and at least five years experience in budget preparation or public management.

 

Mr. Olson received a bachelor’s degree in economics-finance from Millikin University and a master’s degree in public administration from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs.  He has worked for the City of Orlando for the past five years, first as Assistant Treasurer until his appointment as Treasurer in November 2003.
