Bill Summary: This ordinance approves and authorizes the Mayor and Corporation Secretary to execute a submerged land lease between the City of Jacksonville and the Board of Trustees of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund of the State of Florida (the Cabinet) for the renewal of the agreement approved in Resolution 2002-599-A, to provide for improvements and access channel and dredging at Goodby’s Lake Boat Ramp site, for a five (5) year term commencing November 27, 2006.  The boat ramp is located in Council District 5, though a portion of the site is in Council District 6.

 

Background Information: Goodby’s Lake is a tributary of the St. Johns River. The State of Florida has sovereignty over bodies of water.  The City is required to lease the use of the site for dredging and channel access.  The Florida Cabinet must approve the sovereign submerged land lease agreement.  The Florida Department of Environmental Protection administers the lease agreement.
